What you need to know before you join us…
We are a little messy, so…
…come prepared! The barnyard can be a little messy or a lot messy, depending on the day and recent weather. It is best for students and parents alike to wear old shoes or rubber boots. And making great art can be a little messy, too! We recommend wearing clothes that can take the mess. Aprons will be provided, but a little precaution can make a big difference.
Safety is a must…Attention is required.
Once you arrive at The Art Barn, parents will be asked to sign a waiver for their child providing contact info and other information. Please be assured that the staff will do everything in their power to keep everyone safe and out of harms way. We need everyone to follow instructions and practice some restraint in chasing after the animals so that everyone - humans and animals alike - enjoy our time together.
Creative time is special!
Due to the barnyard visit being the first stop on your child’s art adventure, we ask that you try your best to arrive on time for your scheduled experience. The group may already be at the barn and it will be difficult for us to properly greet your child and get them properly signed in. This is a group activity and late arrivals not only hurts your experience, but others in the group as well. We hate to have anyone miss out on having the best time!
Drop off and pick up.
The Art Barn would love to have parents accompany their children to our barnyard! It’s a great chance for all of us to share and learn. Feel free to take pictures and enjoy your child’s wonder of the barnyard critters!
However, we ask that the studio time be a “kids only” time with the instructor. I find that a creative setting with children isn’t the same experience when parents are watching. Kids tend to become nervous and inhibited. Picnic tables are available outside the studio, and we are located right on the rails for trails, so you can even go for a stroll. You may opt to leave and come back to pick up your student, which is fine, too!
Behavior Policy
In order to provide a fun, interactive, hands-on learning environment for all adventuring artists, everyone must be kind and respectful to others and their art. We will start our time together with a few ground rules: no running around animals, follow instructions when asked, and treat both humans and animals with kindness and respect.
A creative space is awesome to share with creative kids. We strive for nothing but positivity and build each other up along the way.
